Bradley Arant's Media and Entertainment practice includes representation of newspaper and magazine publishers, multi-media companies, radio and television broadcasters, and industry organizations such as the Alabama Press Association and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). Some of our clients in the media and entertainment industries are EBSCO Industries, Randall Publishing, Time-Warner and Time, Inc., The Huntsville Times and The Birmingham News (both Newhouse publications ), The New York Times (and its regional media entities, The Tuscaloosa News, The Gadsden Times, The Times-Daily, and WHNT-TV), Southern Progress, and Cox Radio. The firm has also represented The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, CBS, ABC, NBC, and CNN. The group has wide experience in defending defamation claims and in prepublication review, defense of subpoenas directed to the media and reporters, open courtroom issues, and similar legal problems of the media.
Our Media & Entertainment group is a multi-disciplinary group made up of lawyers from a number of other practice groups in the firm, including our corporate and securities, litigation, and patents, copyrights and trademarks groups. We regularly represent media clients in negotiating contracts, obtaining licenses, and in copyright issues.
