| Bradley Arant has two attorneys, Charles A. Stewart, III and W. Harold Albritton, IV participating in the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) Trial Academy. Mr. Stewart and Mr. Albritton first met as students at the Academy in 1986 and now share the rare honor of serving on the faculty, at the same time and as attorneys from the same firm. The IADC Trial Academy is one of the oldest and most well-respected programs for developing defense trial advocacy skills. |

| Marc James Ayers, an attorney in the firm's Birmingham office, has been elected Chair of the Appellate Practice Section of the Alabama State Bar. The purpose of the Appellate Practice Section is to foster communication among lawyers and judges on matters pertaining to the appellate practice. The Section acts as a resource group for the Alabama appellate courts and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals to assist in rules evaluations and amendments, pro bono appointments, appellate mediation, and other programs. | J. Paul Compton, Jr. and Stewart M. Cox, partners in the firm’s Birmingham office, spoke at the annual meeting of the Alabama Consumer Finance Association (ACFA) on July 7. Mr. Compton spoke on the subprime crisis and how it may affect traditional consumer lenders. Mr. Cox gave an update on the current legal status of arbitration agreements and future prospects. ACFA represents the interests of licensed Alabama Consumer Credit Act and Alabama Small Loan Act lenders in the state. |
